Cumbria’s unique landscape has inspired celebrated writers and poets such as Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth for centuries, making the Lake District a mecca for literature lovers. Resting at the foot of the lakes, the Words by the Water Literature Festival is a unique event for writers and readers. Escape your routine this March and share the pleasure of books, words and ideas with other bibliophiles.

Keswick Jazz Festival

12 – 15 May 2016

Did you know the Lake District is home to the UK’s largest and most popular jazz festival? Every May, a horde of international and UK musicians grab their saxophones and flock to Keswick for a celebration of Creole culture. This music festival puts traditional, swing and mainstream jazz in the spotlight. Why not get down to New Orleans classics on the dance floor or attend one of the fascinating jazz history talks?

Keswick gears up for beer festival

Beer fanatics will soon be heading to the Lake District as the Keswick Beer Festival takes place next month.

Held on June 5th and 6th, there are still limited tickets available for the event, which is one of the top dates on the Lake District’s annual calendar.

Many people travelling to the area to attend the event will be looking for rooms in a 4 Star Hotel with an AA Rosette Restaurant – Borrowdale Gates is the ideal place to stay.

As well as beer, live entertainment is at the heart of the festival and a number of bands will be providing music over the course of the two-day event.

Among those set to perform at this year’s Keswick Beer Festival are Raw Spirit, Salvation, The Moobs, The Herdys and The Gatecrashers.

This year’s event will be the 19th Keswick Beer Festival and proceeds will be split between Keswick Lions and Keswick Rugby Club – those pints are for a good cause!

The 2015 Keswick Beer Festival also includes a fancy dress competition, with £25 going to the best individual outfit and £75 to the best group effort.

Keswick itself is one of the most beautiful places in the UK, with the area renowned across the country for its fell-walking, cycling, golfing and climbing. The region is also great for activities such as bird-watching and photography.

Thousands of people are expect to attend this year’s Keswick Beer Festival and the last few remaining tickets are likely to sell out fast.
